Summer Programs – 2013

is proud to offer an array of part-time classes and summer programs to fit every schedule and budget. The technique and theory you learn here apply across all styles and media – We don’t just teach how to create high-fidelity representations of nature; we teach how to assess your work, identify problems and make corrections. This problem-solving mindset is central to the school. The technique and theory that we present is universally applicable to all styles and media – whatever your subject matter or materials of choice, your drawing will improve and you will become more confident in your work.

If you know someone who would enjoy any of our programs, please send them our way!

Figure Block-in Workshop

June 17 – 21, 10:30 – 4:30
$550

This class will present a concrete process for creating accurate figure drawings. Students will learn to draw with purpose, problem solve and make confident decisions while developing a set of tools for evaluating and correcting their work.

Figure Painting Workshop

June 24 – 28, 10:00 – 4:30
$550

In this class students will learn how to create a convincing illusion of three dimensional forms in paint. This class will cover the block-in, setting up your palette, how to do an oil transfer, a one day color study, and modeling form in paint. Students may choose to model in graphite instead of painting.

These two figure workshops are designed to be taken as a pair or individually; the pose will remain the same for both workshops, allowing students from the first week to begin painting or modeling on the first day of this workshop.

Both workshops are suitable for all skill levels. We do recommend that students who are not confident in their drawing abilities take the Block-in Workshop in conjunction with the Painting Workshop. Please check here for a list of Painting Materials.

You will draw from plaster casts of classical sculpture, learning how to see shapes accurately, create a truthful drawing, and render with a high degree of fidelity. Each two-week session covers sixty hours of study. Click here for a list of required materials. All skill levels welcome.
